"Golf is played mainly on a five-and-a-half inch course;
the space between your ears."

As children we learn about our environment and life through playing games. When we become adults we still have the advantage of learning through games if we choose.

Golf for me is one of the best games in gaining insight as to how I am playing at life. Thoughts are very powerful and sometimes we do not see the instant effects our thoughts have in creating our daily life. But on the golf course we are shown almost immediately if we are playing the game or working at it. The way we respond shows us if we are thinking about the golf course as a playground or a battlefield on any given day.  So, the simple thing to do is Change our thoughts to Change our Game.  Sounds easy, right? Wrong, it takes discipline and awareness to quiet the inner critic.  We all have one, but we also have a direct line to our higher selves or what is commonly referred to as the ‘still, small voice’

Imagine all your games filled with Passion, Power, Excitement and Effortlessness!

inside us. The wonderful part about playing golf is we are outside in nature for hours, it is a time away from the man-made laws and a connection back to the Natural Laws which are more life affirming and infused with Love.
The Law of Attraction (one of natures laws) works in golf!!! Empower your games by using the keys of attraction to create great golf. Imagine all your games filled with Passion, Power, Excitement and Effortlessness!

Yoga for Golf is remarkable not only in the value of having two programs in one, the physical and the mental, but it brings us back to a connection with our authentic selves.

The game of golf is played really with yourself, unlike other team sports. Although we are never really alone on the golf course, our higher self is always guiding and protecting us, with this understanding we can learn to become our own best friends. We all have an inner coach to call upon that will help lead us consistently to success. Becoming successful is about having a certain mind-set. Being successful and happy are choices we make. A certain way of perceiving what’s happening around you, realizing what is happening around you is not nearly as important as what is happening within you. Yoga and Golf contain both the similar elements of being a path and a goal. They are both about progress not perfection.

….“It is the journey in the end that matters most, not the end of the journey.”

     You don’t need a high IQ to change your mind, just ordinary, everyday common sense and a willingness to try a slightly different way. All you need is an open mind and to stop thinking that there is only one way to improve your golf. Through the technical/mechanical teachings of the swing, we are not just this physical body. Through YFG you will learn to embrace your whole being- the mind, body, emotions and spirit and bring this wholeness to everything you do.

In time and with practice, you will be rewarded with the ability to drop with ease into a place of deep contentment. This is what yoga is all about, after all: stilling our fidgety bodies and calming our rambling minds so that we may rest quietly in the present moment and see clearly the peace that resides within.
This is when the fun of playing really begins!

Create Great Golf!

Kelly Boreham of North Vancouver writes about her experience with YFG

Being relatively new to the game of golf (a novice actually), I did not realize how much was involved in learning and playing the game and the level of commitment that is required. For most everyone, the obvious is learning and trying to the master the techniques. However, there is another side to the game that I think a great deal of people overlook. And that is learning how to control your mind and thoughts throughout your game. I had heard and read that this is a significant component to playing successfully.

However, it is not something that I have come across in any book or magazine and it is not something that the average golf instructor incorporates into their teaching. When I was asked by a colleague if I was interested in participating in a yoga for golf program, I did not hesitate to join because I thought that it would help improve my flexibility as it related to the game. What I did not realize was that the yoga for golf program also focused on the mental aspects of the game.

With each class, Margarit gave us a foundation in which we could build on. We learned how to best use our minds in the game. Something that the books and magazines say you should do, but don’t tell you how. The breathing techniques to calm your body helped to focus on the shot ahead. The physical stretching and poses help with the flexibility.

Both of these techniques, generally, are also a great way to unwind and release the days’ tensions. As for the mental aspect, the visualization is a great tool. If you can visualize where your next shot will go, there is a greater chance that that is where it will land. The power of positive thinking is very key in this game and I think Margarit really shows you how to achieve this. I would recommend the program to others. The techniques that Margarit gives you can be easily incorporated in your everyday practice. It can make a difference in your game.”
